State Police Respond To Two-Vehicle Injury Crash
State Police responded to a two vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of I-64 near the 58 mile marker (between the Ashley and Nashville exits), at approximately 1:19 p.m. on Friday, July 29.
The collision was between a 2013 Ford Fusion driven by Kelsia M. Visalli, 25, of Savannah, Ga., and a 2005 Ford F150 driven by James M. Pope, 57, of Thompson Station, Tenn., with a passenger, Martha E. Pope, 59, also of Thomson Station, Tenn.
Both Fords were west bound when they reached the construction zone. The F150 which had slowed due to traffic backup, was in front of the Fusion. Visalli was distracted from within her vehicle and struck the rear end of the F150. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to damage. I-64 remained open throughout this incident.
Visalli received minor injuries in the accident and was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. Visalli was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
