The 2016 swim season for the Nashville Blue Racers was a fast paced, fun filled, summer of swimming. Eighty-one swimmers from the local area started in the first week of June with daily swims, conditioning for a season that would see several team victories, 2 record breaking swims, and countless personal bests! Hazel Konkel set a new record in the 50 yard Freestyle for both the team and the pool records. Hazel swam the event in 27.12 seconds, shattering a pool record that had been held for more than 15 years. Sophie Schubert also ended her regular season breaking the pool record in the 25 yard Butterfly at Bender Pool in Pinckneyville. The Blue Racers closed out the regular season with a record of 7 and 3, and headed into the conference meet ready for a challenge. The Blue Racers scored an outstanding 193 total points, ending the season in 4th place. At the conference meet three Blue Racer swimmers were awarded with individual age group high point awards. In the 9-10 girls Sophie Schubert earned the high point Trophy, and in the 11-12 age group Nashville’s Hazel Konkel won the girls division and Adam Anderson won the boys division. Great job Blue Racers!
