University of Illinois Extension is offering a ten-week Master Naturalist training program beginning September 10. Classes will be offered at the Carlyle Lake visitor center, 801 Lake Road, Carlyle, IL.

Classes cover a wide range of subjects related to local natural areas and will include: Botany, Environmental Ethics, Wetlands, Soils, Climate, Forestry, Geology, Prairies, Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Insects, and Aquatics. Instructors are specialists in their field and provide both classroom and hands on training.

Any adult (18 years or older) who loves the outdoors, has a concern for the local environment and wants to provide education and service to help your local community will benefit from this program. You do not need to have a college degree, or years of experience. You do need to have a sincere desire to learn and share information about nature to the community through Extension programing.
