In our August 10 Classic Photo, a group of men wearing suits smile for the camera. Terry Henry stopped by The Nashville News office to tell us that the only local person in the photo was Gerald Powden, who took care of a number of oil wells west of town. The photo is of Powden and a number of other oilmen. While some of those around Powden, on the right side of the photo were from Grayville or Robinson, Ill., the rest are from Oklahoma or Texas. Henry said that he believed the photo was taken in 1975, when Powden and the other Illinoisans in the photo retired, which was why all of the others from out of state came to visit. After Powden’s retirement, Henry took over the care of his wells.
