After rain made the Hornets season opening match unplayable at home, the match was moved to Red Hawk Golf Course in Pinckneyville on August 17. The Hornets who lost top players Tyler Wall, and Riley Edwards last season, got the season started off with a win, on a tiebreaker over Pinckneyville and Trico.
Topping the leaderboard in the match, was Grant Thompson of Pinckneyville, who shot a 42, three shots better than the next best score. Second on the overall leaderboard was Jacob Maschhoff for Nashville, who shot a 45. Also scoring for the Hornets in the match was Carson Parker, who shot a 47, Hayden Heggemeier and Kelton Harre, who each shot a 48, and Terry Pelczynski who shot a 49. Pelczynski's score would prove key in the match, as Nashville and Pinckneyville tied for first with 188 points. To break the tie, the fifth score of each team, was compared, with the lowest score winning. Pelczynski's 49 was three strokes better than Schubert's 52 for the Panthers. Trico finished third with 194 points.
In there second match of the year the Hornets finished second behind Woodlawn at Indian Hills Golf Course in Mt. Vernon. The Hornets finished ahead of third place Waltonville. The medalist in the event was Wiatt Jennings of Woodlawn who shot a 39. Harre was the top finisher for Nashville with a 42, followed by Briley Dahncke with a 43. Maschhoff finished with a 44, and Parker finished with a 45 to round out the scorers for the Hornets.
