Jr. Hornettes Start Season Strong

The NMS Jr. Hornettes softball team has gotten off to a strong start this season as they competed in the O'Fallon tournament and defeated Pinckneyville. The Jr. Hornettes have started the season 3-1.

The Jr. Hornettes first game of the O'Fallon Tournament was a blowout win over O'Fallon on August 9. The Jur. Hornettes scored early and often on their way to a 12-2 victory. The Jr. Hornettes were led by Whitley Hunter, who finished 3-3 with three runs scored, five RBIs, a double, a triple, and a home run. Emmerson Paszkiewicz added two hits a walk and a RBI, while Reagen Burke finished 2-3 with three runs scored, two RBIs, and a home run. Ryan Stiegman finished with a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs. The Jr. Hornettes offense also got production from Hope Liszewski ,who added a hit, a run and a walk. Daphne Kollbaum had a RBI and a run, and Jordan Donato scored two runs on one hit and a walk to round out the offense for Nashville.

The Jr. Hornettes dropped their next contest of the season 3-2 in the O'Fallon tournament. The Jr. Hornettes did not get a lot of production offensively as they struck out 13 times in the game. Annie Ahlers, Burke, and Donato had the lone three hits for the Jr. Hornettes in the loss, with Burke and Donato each scoring a run. Liszewski and Kollbaum reached base via the walk.

The Jr. Hornettes won their next game of the O'Fallon Tournament 4-3. The Jr. Hornettes scored a run in the first, and three in the third to come away with the victory. Sammy Edwards led Nashville with two hits, two RBIs, and a double. Hunter did not record a hit in the game, but scored a run, and had a RBI for Nashville. Donato, and Burkehad the one other hits for nashville.

The Jr. Hornettes final game of the week was a blowout 14-1 over Pinckneyville. Hunter finished 2-3 with a home run, 4 RBIs, and two runs scored. Ahlers, Ashlyn Frazier, Maschhoff, and Burke each added at least one RBI in the game for Nashville. Donato, Kollbaum, Paszkiewicz, Stiegman, and Eberhart each scored at least a run for Nashville.
