Mr. Michael A. “Shooter”
Fortag, Sr. of Centralia,
departed this life at his residence in Centralia on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 9 P.M. He had attained the age of 55 years, 8 months and 22 days.
Mr. Fortag was born on December 3, 1960 at Nashville, the son of Tony and Barbara (Sodko) Fortag. He was united in marriage to Catherine Szperra on February 8, 1986 at DuBois, and she survives his passing.
Michael was a truck driver for Quad County Ready Mix in Mt. Vernon for over 27 years. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Cathy Fortag of Centralia; five children, Michael Fortag, Jr. and wife Tracey of Ashley, Tami lyn Fortag of Centralia, Kyle Fortag of DuBois, Jarod Fortag of Ft. Bragg, N.C., and Manda Fortag and fiancé Daniel Pranga of Centralia; 11 grandchildren, Conner, Kaiden, Dylan, Ethan, Michael, Raeanne and Lilli Fortag; Kaylee and Bobbie Matlock; Daniel Jr. and Leo Pranga; a brother, Robert Fortag and wife Mary Lynn of Ashley; half-sister, Nancy Durbin and husband Jerry of Agra, Okla.; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Zea Pranga.
Funeral services will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home at Ashley, on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 10 AM with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating and with interment to follow in the St. Michael Cemetery at Radom.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home at Ashley on Wednesday from 7:30 AM until the service hour.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. Michael Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
