Jr. Hornettes Dominate Opponents
The Nashville Jr. Hornettes team is playing some of their best softball of the season as they have won four straight games, all by at least 10 runs. The Jr. Hornettes defeated Pinckneyville, DuQuoin, Chester, and Okawville this past week.
The Jr. Hornettes first game was a 14-3 blowout over Okawville. Nashville broke the game open early with six runs in the first inning. The Jr. Hornettes would cruise from there winning in just five innings. Eight different players recorded RBIs for Nashville in the win. Daci Finke, Annie Ahlers, Whitley Hunter, Emmerson Paszkiewicz, Ryan Stiegman, Ashlyn Frazier, and Jordan Donato each had one RBI while Reagen Burke had 2 RBIs in the win.
The Jr. Hornettes next game was another blowout win as they defeated Chester 11-0. The Jr. Hornettes scored one in the second, three in third and broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth. Hunter led the team with three RBIs and two runs scored. Finke, Emily Guest, and Paszkiewicz each had two RBIs in the win. Stiegman had the other RBI for Nashville, while Donato, Kollbaum, Frazier, and Burke each recorded hits.
In their next game against DuQuoin, the Jr. Hornettes fell behind early but came back scoring the next eleven runs of the ball game on their way to an 11-1 victory. Hunter finished 3-4 with three runs, and three RBIs to lead Nashville. Paszkiewicz also added three hits and a RBI in the win. Hope Liszewski, Ahlers, and Korbi Rhine each had a RBI, while Sammy Edwards added a single in the game. Donato and Burke reached base via the walk.
In their final game of the week, Pinckneyville scored four in the top of the first, but Nashville came back ith the next 12 runs of the ball game on their way to a 17-6 victory. After going down 4-0, Nashville scored three in the first, and nine in the second to take control. Nashville added five runs in the fourth to put the game away for good. Hunter and Finke each finished with 2 RBIs to lead Nashville in the game, while Ahlers, Rhine, Edwards, and Stiegman each had 1 RBI. Ten different players scored runs for Nashville as Finke, Ahlers, Guest, Hunter, Paszkiewicz, Stiegman, Burke, Frazier, Edwards, and Donato all crossed the plate.
