Mrs. Bernadine Geppert of Coulterville, IL departed this life in the Coulterville Care Center on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. She had attained the age of 89 years, 2 months and 2 days.
Bernadine was born in Tamaroa, IL on July 13, 1927 the daughter of John and Annie (nee Novakaska) Szczepanski. She was united in marriage to Peter T. Geppert on August 25, 1945 in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Dubois, IL and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1987.
Mrs. Geppert was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the family farm. Bernadine relished her role as a farm wife and mother. She loved listening to Polka music and dancing. She enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables that she raised. She liked to go fishing and enjoyed Bingo at the nursing home. She was a faithful member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville.
Left to mourn her passing is her five children, Peter R. Geppert and wife Joan of Coulterville, Patricia Wichert and husband Phillip of Chicago, Larry Geppert and wife Arlene of New Athens, IL, Geraldine Thies and husband Clyde of Covington, TN and Lonnie Geppert and wife Michelle of Frohna, MO; one brother, Lawrence Szczepanski of Tamaroa; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Geppert and five brothers, Walter, Ralph, Joe, Bill and Raymond Szczepanski.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Posen, IL on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10 A.M. with Fr. Bernard Goedde officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, mass offerings or memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
