As regionals move closer, the Jr. Hornettes split their four games this week. both of Nashville's wins came by double digits. Nashville defeated Chester, and Sparta but fell to Trico and Murphysboro.
A huge third inning allowed the Jr. Hornettes to cruise to victory as they defeated Trico 17-4 on September 12. Down 3-2, the Jr. Hornettes scored eight runs in the third to take control. Nashville would add seven runs in the fifth to win the game 17-4 in five innings. Whitley Hunter, Daci Finke and Emmerson Paszkiewicz each had two RBIs apiece in the win to lead Nashville. Ryan Stiegman, Sammy Edwards, and Reagen Burke each added a RBI in the blowout win. Alison Maschhoff, Korbi Rhine, Valerie Combs, Annie Ahlers, and Jordan Donato each scored a run in the win.
The Jr. Hornettes were back in action on September 13 as they easily defeated Sparta 16-1. Nashville would get three runs in the first, third and fourth innings, as well as one run in the fifth and six runs in the sixth on their way to victory. Sparta got their lone run in the third inning. Ahlers, Edwards and Hunter each had three hits and three RBIs in the win, while Finke, Paszkiewicz, and Stiegman each ahd two RBIs. Rhine had the lone other RBI in the win.
Murphysboro was able to hold the Jr. Hornettes offense in check as they shut out Nashville 2-0. A close game throughout, the game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth, when Murphysboro scored twice. The Jr. Hornettes managed five hits in the game with Hunter pickin gup three hits, while Paszkiewicz and Stiegman each picked up one.
The Jr. Hornettes were again shut out against Trico as they lost 10-0. Trico scored one in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth and three in the sixth to put the game away. The Jr. Hornettes managed just six hits with Finke and Hunter each getting two hits, while Stiegman and Ashlyn Frazier each had one hit apiece. Edwards and Combs each reached base via the walk.
