The St. Ann/TSJ baseball team concluded the regular season, and began play in regionals this past week. St. Ann/TSJ ended the regular season against Aviston, before taking on Hoyleton Co-op in the regional quarterfinal. St. Ann/TSJ moved on to face Field in the regional semi-finals. St. Ann/TSJ faced off against Woodlawn in the regional championship.
In the last regular season contest of the year, St. Ann/TSJ could not come all the way back as they fell 9-6 on the road. Aviston got the scoring started off with two runs in the bottom of the first, but St. Ann/TSJ came back with three in the top of the second. St. Ann/TSJ held the lead until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Aviston scored five runs to take a 7-3 lead. St. Ann/TSJ would come back with three runs in the top of the sixth, but Aviston would seal the game with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Trent Harris led St. Ann/TSJ with three RBIs. Brayden Bauza also had a RBI in the game, while Nick Miller and Curtis Bochantin each had a hit in the win. Logan Eversgerd scored two runs, while Luke Pedtke and Kaden Linkey each crossed the plate once.
St. Ann/TSJ then began play in the Woodlawn Regional, with their first matchup being against Hoyleton Co-op. St. Ann/TSJ dominated the matchup, winning 10-0. St. Ann/TSJ got on the board in the first with one run, followed by two in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four in the sixth. St. Ann/TSJ was led in the game by Kendall Vallett, who finished the game 3-4 with two runs, two RBIs, and a double. Bauza also finished with 2 RBIs in the win, while Tommy Herzog, Eversgerd, and Harris each had one RBI in the win.
St. Ann/TSJ played in the regional semi-finals against Field. St. Ann/TSJ fell behind early, but were able to come back on their way to a 9-7 victory. Field took the lead with one run in the first, two in the second and one in the fourth. St.Ann/TSJ's offense came alive in the fourth inning with three runs. St. Ann/TSJ followed it up with two in the fifth to take their first lead of the game. Field would come back with three runs in the sixth to take the lead back, but St. Ann/TSJ scored four times in the seventh to advance to the regional championship. Linkey led the team with three hits and four RBIs in the win, followed by Vallett who chipped in two RBIs. Miller and Eversgerd each had RBIs for St. Ann/TSJ while Harris, Jack Kroeger, and Owen Dunn each scored a run in the win.
The St. Ann/TSJ Baseball team fell to Woodlawn in the Regional Championship game on Monday night 14-4. Each team got off to a good start with St. Ann/TSJ scoring three times in the first and Woodlawn scoring four times. Woodlawn would break the game open with eight runs in the fourth inning of the game on their way to the win. Harris led St. Ann/TSJ with two hits, a run scored, and a RBI. Bauza scored two runs in the game, but did not have a hit. Bauza reached via the walk and a HBP. Miller scored the lone other run, while Herzog notched the lone other RBI for St. Ann/TSJ. Linkey was the only other player for St. Ann/TSJ to reach base. St. Ann/TSJ finished the season at 11-5.
