Pastor Bill Causer and the Zion UCC Congregation have agreed he will serve as their Pastor. He will lead Worship services and usually have office hours at the church on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. If you need to contact him, call the church office at 618.493.6317. Please leave a message if necessary. Pastor Bill had previously served and retired from this Congregation in 2004.

The Scriptures for next Sunday are 2 Timothy 2:8-15 and Luke 17: 11-19 and the Sermon title is “The Healing Power of Faith” – II. Anointing with holy oil will be a part of this service. Pastor Bill will share a five sermon series during October written by King Duncan titled “Dynamic Faith for a Dying World”. Thanks to those who made baked goods and snacks for the DuBois Center Fall Festival and to those who worked the Irvington Food Pantry last Saturday.

On behalf of the Trinity Lutheran Men’s Club, Marvin Haake expresses sincere gratitude to all who contributed to their latest paper drive. The next collection is slated for March, 2017.

Tim Schnitker, First Vice President of the Hoyleton Lions Club chaired Tuesdays meeting. Mark Styninger offered the table prayer. Butch Spenner entertained all with the joke of the day. Kurt Michael called the roll and 14 members were present. October 15 kicks off Lions’ Candy Day and John Bassen will serve as chair for this project. John Harris presented the Treasurer’s Report and same was motioned and accepted.

Craig Suedmeyer updated the members of the Octoberfest plans. The 15th of October will find the Village Park “smoking” as cook-off competitor’s fire up to compete in the 2nd Annual BBQ Championship. It is not too late to enter a team – contact Matt Kessler at 618-980-8179. A Vendor/Craft Fair is being held beginning at 12 noon and spaces are available for $15, the stroke of 12 noon also finds the beer stand and corn-bag tournament kicking off. DurrMan will serve as DJ providing musical entertainment as well as announcing the events throughout the day. A Kiddie Tractor pull will be held under the pavilion at 12:45 p.m. Continental Tire will be delivering their Kid’s Obstacle Course and a bounce house will begin jumping at 1:00 p.m.

You can readily see this “Saturday in the Park” will offer something for everyone – – mark your calendar in order to partake in the 2nd Annual Hoyleton Octoberfest!

Congratulations are extended to Josh and Correy McDaniel who were married October 1 and celebrated their reception at the Community Club. And birthday greetings are sent to Merle Beckmeyer who celebrated her special day on October 1.
