The Okawville Village Board met September 26 and set Trick or Treat hours for October 31 from 6 pm to 8 pm for ages 12 and under.
Regarding the tradition of “TP-ing,” Mayor Dave Jasper said if residents catch perpetrators and want to press charges, they will have to clean it up. He said they won’t be fined unless there is property damage.
Soaping and waxing will not be tolerated.
The Board meeting for October was scheduled for October 24 at 7 pm.
Chairperson Ronda Pryor reported that a 2-way radio was needed for the new dump truck. The board approved the purchase of a radio for $350 plus installation.
Pryor also introduced a motion to use Charter Spectrum as the phone and internet provider for the Village. This was also approved.
Chairperson Sarah Deterding reported that the new Explorer arrived in time for the Wheat Festival, which went smoothly.
The Village received over $615.00 in fines from the circuit court and over $3,093.00 from video gaming.
Chairman Brian Nelson brought up the fact that there was a sewer break on State Route 177, close to Dairy Queen. The Board approved a $3,900 bid to fix the situation.
