November 6, Spaghetti Dinner, serving starts at 11:00 am, at the Okawville Community Center. Music 2:00 – 5:30 pm by the Heritage Band for you dancing pleasure.

I know this seems early, but the Polka Club Christmas Party is Saturday December 10th at the Alber’s American Legion. Dinner 12:00, dance 2:00-6:00 pm, music by Barefoot Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen. Everyone is welcome. They are taking reservations now.

Friends paid their respects to the Aaron Haege family Thursday evening at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville. The Funeral at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Nashville Friday morning with Pastor Beverly Kahle Officiating, Interment in the Masonic Cemetery in Nashville.

Ora Mae Droege, member of St. John’s UCC, Johannisburg was among guests attending the New Athen’s Home for the Aged Women’s Auxiliary Noon Luncheon and Annual Meeting at St John’s United Church of Christ, New Athen’s on Tuesday. Jamestown Management in now managing the home with Sara Archer as Administrator. The attendees were welcomed by President, Karen Zimmerman, lunch prayer given by Rev. Dr. Robert Koch. Music was provided by Blue Grass Shack, Chris Talley and Denise Voegele. Guest speaker, Bryon Hooppaw of Jamestown Management and reports given by staff of the home and Vickie Luter, current member of New Athens Home Board of Directors and Treasurer of Auxiliary. Attendance prizes were donated by Shirwin Farms. The Auxiliary had 84 reservations. There was a good attendance, good lunch, entertainment and very informative. Always good seeing Linda Schneider and her variety of craft items.

Friends paid their respects to the Leona Shubert family Friday evening at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville. Funeral services were held at the Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course Saturday morning. Interment in the Elkton Cemetery in Elkton, IL

For the Chicago Cubs Fans, the Eternal “Wait till next year” is over. Cubs will be playing the Cleveland Indians in the World Series games this week. Cubs haven’t been in the Series since 1945, Good Luck.

Save the Date! Mollie B with Squeezebox is returning to Mascoutah Moose Lodge on Friday, March 10th, 2017 and Saturday March 11th, 2017. Tickets will be available to purchase after January 1, 2017.

Cindy (Droege) McHenry was among those helping to hold up the United States Flag at Arrow Head Stadium in Kansas City Sunday before the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints football game and at halftime among those holding Pink Ribbons. Chiefs won the game 27 to 21.
