Mrs. Pearl Stricker of Okawville, IL departed this life in the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL on Friday, October 28 at 6:34 P.M. She had attained the age of 94 years, 5 months and 29 days.
Pearl was born in Windber, PA on April 30, 1922 the daughter of Arthur and Eliza (nee Hunter) Probert. She was united in marriage Perry O. Stricker Jr. in Okawville on November 18, 1944 and he preceded her on August 11, 1995.
Mrs. Stricker served as a radio repairman and teletype operator in the United States Marine Corp from 1943 until 1945, having attained the rank of Corporal. Pearl was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Okawville where she was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Okawville.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Ramsae Stricker and wife Lois of Highland, IL, Lynn Borrenpohl and husband Doane and John Stricker and wife Lynn all of Okawville; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Homer and Clarence Probert; and five sisters, Helen Machley, Bertha Gerhart, Florence Probert, Verna Mock and Kathleen Burkett.
Funeral services are being held from the United Methodist Church in Okawville on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Jeffrey Schwab officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Okawville. Military graveside rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #233 of Okawville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Okawville or to the HSHS Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
