Smith And Haertling Wed

Lanie Kae Haertling, daughter of Steve and Amy Haertling of Nashville, Illinois and Ian David Nathaniel Smith, son of Dave and Beth Smith of Olathe, Kansas were united in marriage on January 16, 2016.

The ceremony was held at Fairmount Christian Church in Independence, Missouri, with Pastor Andrew Smith officiating. Instrumentalists were Scott Gibbs, brother-in-law of the bride, David Smart, and Brenda Cacy. A reception followed at Pavilion at Logan Woods in Independence, Missouri.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, and attended by her sister Allie Gibbs as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Pettigrew, Patricia Sanderlin, and Victoria Jiang.

The best man was Sean Richards with Austin Bruss, Nathan Bartlett, brother-in-law of the groom, and Garrett Modlin serving as groomsmen. Ushers were Nathan Vanderpool and Jonathan Horst, both friends of the couple. Ring bearer was Lincoln Uhl, cousin of the groom.

Lanie is a 2008 graduate of Nashville Community High School. She graduated in 2012 with a bachelor of science from Southeast Missouri State and in 2014 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with her Masters in Community Nutrition. She is employed as a Registered Dietitian at the Wyandotte County WIC office in Kansas City, Kansas.

Ian is a 2007 graduate of Maranatha Christian Academy. He graduated in 2011 from Olivet Nazarene University with his bachelors in electrical engineering. He is employed as an engineer at Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, Missouri. He is currently working on his Masters in Applied Theology.

Ian and Lanie now live in Kansas City, Kansas. They spend much of their free time volunteering and hosting church events.
