Christmas In The Village
The annual “Country Christmas Stroll and House Tours” presented by the Okawville, Illinois, Chamber of Commerce and the Heritage House Museum Association will take place on Saturday and Sunday, December 3th and 4th.
The house tours begin at noon both days and go till 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. 4 resident homes will be featured this year as part of the Heritage House Museum hosted house tours along with the Christmas Stroll. Homes on the tour include those of. Gary & Debby Stricker, Mark & Michelle Riechmann, Alex Croessman and Leonard & Bernice Hemminghaus. Each home has its own uniqueness. Cost of the tour is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.
The visitors may also enjoy shopping at the specialty and gift shops Okawville has to offer including Annette’s Flower’s and Gifts and Green’s Holiday Shop.
On Saturday morning, beginning at 9:00 a.m., a “Breakfast with Santa” will be hosted at the Original Springs Hotel in Okawville. Children eat free – compliments of the Okawville Lion’s club. Make reservations (618-243-5694 – leave a message with name and phone number) Along with these activities, a “Country Craft Fair” featuring quality handcrafted items and the “Festival of Trees” will be held in the Community Club building. 25 decorated trees will be displayed. The theme this year is “Ways and Places to have fun”. All ages enjoy this wonderful display and the cost is $2.00. A flea market and vendor show will be featured at the Immanuel School gym.
Enjoy a luncheon or snack at a variety of places that Okawville has to offer including baked items from the new Eats and Treats Bakery. Luncheon and food items will be featured in various locations during the days of the stroll. Information and a hospitality area and tickets can be purchased at the Community Club building in the craft fair room.
Additional activities include children’s singing groups that will also be featured on Sunday afternoon in the Community Club building beginning at 12:30. The Rainbow Ranch will also feature a petting zoo at the Community Club Park on Sunday afternoon.
Families will also enjoy the “Christmas in the Barn” event, on Saturday, at the Rainbow Ranch Petting Zoo out at the farm along Route 15. Animals from the very 1st Christmas will be featured for the children to learn to know.
All of these activities are a delightful way to start your holiday season.
