Jr. Hornets Move To 12-0

The eighth grade Nashville Middle School boys basketball team, stayed undefeated this season with wins over Central City and Murphysboro. The Jr. Hornets eighth graders moved to 12-0 on the season. The seventh grade Jr. Hornets team also picked up two wins this week, which moved their record to 10-1 on the season.

The eighth grade team finished up November with a 74-31 blowout win over Central City. The Jr. Hornets put the game away in the first quarter as they outscored Central City 29-3 in the frame. Nashville continued to build their lead in the second quarter and took a 47-11 lead into halftime. In the second half, Nashville was able to cruise to victory.

The Jr. Hornets eighth grade team was led by Gavin Baldwin, who finished with 16 points. Baldwin was one of four members of the Jr. Hornets in double figures in the game. Jaxon Goforth finished with 13 points, followed by Preston Dagner and Michael Combs who finished with 10 points apiece. Kolten Gajewski finished with nine points, while Camden Ritzel and Ian Blazier finished with six points apiece. Cole Malawy and Nolan Heggemeier rounded out the scoring with two points each in the win.

The Jr. Hornets began December with another blowout, as they defeated Murphysboro 55-26. Nashville scored early and often in the game, as they led 14-4 after the first quarter, and 30-10 at halftime. In the second half, Nashville continued the onslaught, as they outscored Murphysboro in both the third and fourth quarters, which allowed them to cruise to an easy win.

Baldwin and Dagner led the Jr. Hornets with 13 points apiece. Goforth also finished in double figures with 11 points, followed by Malawy with five points. Ian Blazier scored four points, while Ritzel and Heggemeier each notched three points. Will Barczewski and Gajewski rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.

The seventh grade Jr. Hornets team also picked up two wins this this past week. Nashville defeated Central City 38-16 on November 29. The Jr. Hornets seventh grade team was led by Blazier with 10 points. Combs added eight points, followed by Aaron Brink and Heggemeier with five points each in the contest. Saxton Hoepker finished with four points, while Gajewski, Conner Gladson, and Rylan Hammer each had two points.

The seventh grade Jr. Hornets defeated Murphysboro 37-24 on December 1. Blazier led Nashville with 10 points in the game, followed by Heggemeier with nine points. Gajewski added seven points while Combs scored four points. Brink, Hoepker, and Hayden Robinson each finished with two points in the game, and Gladson scored one point in the contest.
