Leonard Alwardt Scholarship Awarded
Nashville Community High School and The Nashville Savings Bank are proud to announce that Mr. Jonathan Barker is the Class of 2016 recipient of the Leonard Alwardt Industrial Technology Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior in memory of a very special educator who served Nashville Community High School. Leonard Alwardt was an industrial technology instructor at N.C.H.S. from 1972 until his death in May of 1999. This scholarship endeavors to recognize, and to provide financial assistance, to students of outstanding character and scholarship with a demonstrated interested in pursuing a career linked to industrial technology.
Jonathan Barker is enrolled as a freshman at Kaskaskia College and is majoring in Civil Engineering. Jonathan is the son of Barbara Barker of Nashville. While in high school, Jonathan belonged to the Nashville High School WYSE and Drafting Team. He was also a volunteer for the Angels for Autism Run. Jonathan expressed his appreciation for the scholarship award that honors Mr. Alwardt.
