Patricia Rensing

Zion UCC will celebrate Christmas Eve with a service of Carols, Candles and Communion at 6:00 pm Saturday night. AnnaMarie Beckmeyer will be the musician and Mark Beckmeyer the soloist. Pastor Bill’s sermon is titled “New Life in the Light” and Scripture reading is Isaiah 52:7-10 and John 1:1-14.

Christmas Eve marks one year that Zion has been able to worship in the Sanctuary since the fire damage of August, 2014. We will gather again on Sunday, Christmas Day, at 9:00 am for Children’s Sunday School and 10:00 am for Worship. Pastor Bill’s sermon title is “God’s Reason for the Season” and Scripture readings are Isaiah 7:10-17 and Matthew 1:18-25. We thank those who provided poinsettias and other flowers in memory/honor of their loved ones. All are welcome to join us in praising God. Merry Christmas to all.

Donations from the 2nd Annual Washington County BBQ Championship and the Hoyleton Community Club provided the beautiful landscaping surrounding our Veteran’s Memorial. Bach Landscaping designed the layout that truly enhances this marvelous tribute to our Veteran’s – both past and present.

District Governor of Lions District 1CN, Ann Ragsdale, attended the December Hoyleton Lions Club Meeting. In commemoration and recognition of their years of dedication as a Lions member, Ann presented the Milestone Chevron Award to: Robert Thorson – 15 years of service; Earl Schnitker and Virgil (Butch) Spenner – 20 years of service; Gary Suedmeyer – 30 years of service; Marvin Haake, Ralph Michael, and Lloyd Spenner – 40 years of service; and to Scott Pries – 45 years of service. Janice Nierman was the 50/50 winner and generously donated her winnings to the Club’s General Fund.

Happy Anniversary blessings are sent to Mark and Debbie Beckmeyer who are celebrating on December 26.
