The Nashville Middle School Jr. Hornettes team, split their two matchups this past week, as they took on Central City and Sparta. The Jr. Hornettes moved their record to 14-4 on the season. The JV squad, picked up two wins this past week, as they defeated Central City and Sparta.
The Jr. Hornettes could not overcome a slow start, and dropped their fourth game of the season, 46-43 against Central City. Central City took control of the game early as they led 15-4 at the end of the first quarter. Nashville came back in the second, as they outscored Central City 11-5 in the quarter, to cut Central City's lead to just five at halftime. In the second half, the Jr. Hornettes continued to chip away, and cut the deficit to two going into the final quarter. In the fourth, Central City was just able to hold on for a three point victory.
Alyssa Cole led Nashville with 17 points in the loss, followed by Whitley Hunter with 11 points. Brianna Schorfheide and Reagen Burke each added six points. Sami Edwards rounded out the scoring with three points in the loss.
The Jr. Hornettes bounced back from the loss with a 35-15 win over Sparta on December 13. Nashville took control of the game as they outscored Sparta 10-2 in the first quarter. Nashville continued to extend their lead in the second, and took an 11 point lead into halftime. In the second half, the Jr. Hornettes cruised to a 35-15 victory.
Burke led Nashville with 10 points in the win, followed by Cole, Schorfheiede and Kiley Heidel who each finished with six points apiece.. Edwards finished with four points, while Ashlyn Frazier finished with two points. Hunter finished with one point in the win.
