The St. Louis AgriBusiness Club named club member, grain farmer, and Washington County Illinois Farm Bureau Board member, Steve Launius, as their 2016 Outstanding Member of the Year.

Steve Launius is a true agricultural advocate attending monthly club meetings and professional development, encouraging agribusiness expansion in the St. Louis region, educating congressional and legislative staff about the importance of the agricultural industry, promoting agriculture careers with youth, and networking with agribusiness professionals.

“Steve is a regular attendee at our member meetings and events throughout the year,” stated Richard Norris, club president and director of the Center for Plant and Life Sciences, St. Louis Community College. “Steve Launius has a true passion for the agricultural industry and understands that educating our governmental decision makers and the general public is vital to our industry. Steve will often just walk up to a person and begin positively promoting the importance of the food and fiber industry.”

Steve Launius indicated that the St. Louis AgriBusiness Club is very similar to a city chamber of commerce.

Just like a city chamber of commerce promotes and improves the business environment, stimulates a vibrant local economy and produces a cooperative effort to enhance the overall quality of life, we as members collectively have these same goals for the agricultural industry in the St. Louis region.

Even though we have a river that divides our two states, we work together as a region of the United States to maintain and improve the agricultural industry.
