2016 Washington County Coroner’s Report

The department of Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger released its annual report for 2016.

In 2016, Styninger reported that:

Overall, the office received 131 calls.

There were 38 calls investigated by Styninger or one of his deputy coroners.

There were:

• 111 natural deaths.

• 13 accidental deaths

• Four suicide deaths

• Zero homicide deaths

• One undetermined manner of death

• Two death notifications for outside agencies

Additionally, the department performed:

• Three autopsies

• Nine toxicology tests

• Zero inquests held

• 43 cremation permits issued

The report also details that the number of deaths reported does not reflect the deaths of individuals who were injured in Washington County, but died after being transported to a hospital in another county or state.
