January 22, is the 3rd Sunday in Epiphany. Worship services at Zion UCC are Children’s Sunday School at 9:00 am and Worship at 10:00 am. The Scripture readings are Psalm 27:4-9, Isaiah 9:1-4, and Matthew 4:12-23. Pastor Bill’s sermon is titled “The Church, A Work In Progress”. Pastor Bill says the Church today is nothing like it was in 1957, the year that he was licensed to preach. The Apostle Paul made it clear that despite all that was broken in the church, he was still deeply and truly satisfied with what God was accomplishing through the church. Upon conclusion of Worship, the Annual Congregational meeting will be held. After the meeting, we will share a potluck meal with the meat provided. Please plan to attend this important day in the life of Zion UCC.

Trinity PTL is hosting a Wine Tasting at the Hoyleton Community Building on Saturday, February 4 from 6 – 9 p.m. Appetizers will be served and a variety of wines will be set up for tasting. A Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with this event with proceeds being targeted for the purchase of technology and additional computers. If you have any questions, please contact Dawn Kasten at 618-218-0028.

The Hoyleton Lions met on Tuesday, January 10 with Carl Herrmann opening the meeting with the call for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Dues are currently being collected and are being received by the Treasurer, John Harris.

The Club presented Geri Schnitker with a Christmas gift in recognition of her dedication in meal preparation for the Club during 2016.

Carl Herrmann regretfully stepped down as the Club’s President. Tim Schnitker, as 1st Vice-President, rose to the podium and will serve as the President in 2017.
