Mrs. Sandra Ritzel of Okawville, departed this life in the Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Nashville, on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 7:20 P.M. She had attained the age of 71 years, 1 month and 11 days.
Sandra was born in Belleville, on December 11, 1945, the daughter of Orvie and Norma (nee Lichtenfels) Sachteleben. She was baptized and confirmed in the Zion United Church of Christ in Addieville. Sandy was united in marriage to Morris Ritzel in the Zion United Church of Christ on September 10, 1966 and he survives her passing.
Sandy was a faithful member of the St. Peter United Church of Christ in Okawville where she was an active member of the Women’s Guild. She was a 1963 graduate of Okawville High School. Mrs. Ritzel was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for several area businesses over the years and she also sold Princess House lead crystal products for several years. She was a former member of the Okawville Home Extension. Sandy enjoyed doing arts and crafts and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband Morris Ritzel of Okawville; her son, Matthew Ritzel and wife Tracey of Nashville; three grandchildren, Nealey, Camden and Maddox Ritzel; a sister, Pat Curran and husband Keith of Nashville; two aunts, Fern Moehle of Nashville and Charlene Underwood of Brentwood, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held from the St. Peter United Church of Christ in Okawville on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Jeffrey Schwab officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Sunday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again on Monday from 7:30 A.M. until 9 A.M. then at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lions of Illinois Endowment Fund, the St. Peter United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or to Heartland Hospice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
