Jr. Hornettes Finish Second In State

The Nashville Middle School Jr. Hornettes girls basketball team capped off their season with a second place finish in the SIJHSAA Class M State Tournament. The Jr. Hornettes defeated Joseph Arthur in the Quarter-Finals, and Jonesboro in the Semi-Finals. The Jr. Hornettes fell to Vienna 51-42 in the Class M State Championship game. The Jr. Hornettes finished the season with a record of 22-6.

In their final game of the season, the Jr. Hornettes fell behind early, and could not catch back up as Vienna took the game 51-42. Vienna outscored Nashville 12-8 in the first quarter, and continued to build their lead throughout the contest. The Jr. Hornettes fell behind 27-20 at halftime.

In the second half, Vienna was able to continue to extend their lead. Vienna outscored Nashville 13-11 in the third quarter and held a nine point lead with one quarter to play. In the fourth, the Jr. Hornettes could not make up any ground, as Vienna held on for a 51-42 win.

Alyssa Cole led the Jr. Hornettes with 19 points in the loss. Whitley Hunter was also in double figures with 10 points. Reagen Burke finished with seven points, while Brianna Schorfheide scored six points.
