Jr. Hornettes Begin Season

The Nashville Middle School Jr. Hornettes volleyball team began play  as the A-team and B-team both went 1-2 in their first three matches. The C-team did not pick up a win, but split two of their three matches.

In the first match of the season, the Jr. Hornettes took on Rome. The A-team defeated Rome 25-20, 25-22 to pick up their first win of the season. Havalen Pierce led Nashville with four aces, while Sami Edwards finished with two kills to lead the Jr. Hornettes.

In the B-team’s game, the Jr. Hornettes suffered a loss 25-12, 25-17. Jordan Donato and Emme Paszkiewicz each finished with one kill to lead the Jr. Hornettes, while Daphne Kollbaum finished with four aces.

The C-team split their match, as they dropped the first game 25-17 but won game two 14-6.

In their next match, the Jr. Hornettes took on Woodlawn.The A-team suffered their first loss of the season, as they dropped a close first game 26-24, and the second game 25-17. Edwards led the team with 2 aces and three kills in the match. Reagen Burke finished with two kills.

The B-team also suffered a loss as they dropped the first game 25-20, bounced back to win the second game 25-15, and lost the third game 15-9. Paszkiewicz finished with three kills to lead the team, while Kollbaum finished with five aces. Allison Maschhoff finished with four aces.

The C-team split their match as they lost the first game 25-8 and won the second game 19-12. Valerie Combs had three aces, and Baylie Newman had one kill.

In their third match of the season, the Jr. Hornettes took on Sparta on February 9. The A-team lost 25-10, 25-8, and were led by Whitley Hunter, who finished with two kills and three aces. Edwards finished with two kills.

The B-team got their first win of the season as they won the first game 25-17, and the second game 25-15. Paszkiewicz finished with four aces. Kollbaum finished with three kills in the win.

The C-team lost the first game 5-25, but tied Sparta in their second game 17-17. Combs finished with three aces.
