Kasten And Stanowski Earn Honors

The IBCA Class 1A/2A All State Teams were announced as well as the Southern Illinois River to River Mississippi Division All Conference team. Nashville Hornettes juniors Karly Stanowski and Paige Kasten were named to the IBCA Class 2A All-State Honorable Mention. Both Stanowski and Kasten were also named to the Southern Illinois River to River Mississippi Division All-Conference team.
Kasten led Nashville with 12.1 points per game this season, and finished with a school record 94 three point baskets this season. Kasten also broke the school record for career three point baskets this season with 180 career three point baskets. The previous record was held by Jordi Harre. Kasten’s best game of the season came in the Mascoutah Tournament against Centralia, where she finished with a season-high 22 points and six three point baskets.
Stanowski was second on the team as she averaged just under 10 points per game at 9.2 points per game this season. Stanowski led the Hornettes with eight rebounds per game. Stanowski also led the team with 42 assists this season. Stanowski scored in double figures 14 times this season, and scored fifteen or more points six times this season. Stanowski scored a season-high 19 points against Collinsville during the Nashville Girls Basketball Thanksgiving Tournament.
Area athletes also named to the IBCA Class 1A/2A All State teams were: Caroline Boehne from Christ Our Rock Lutheran and Madison Hackstady of Okawville, who were named to the IBCA 1A/2A All-State Third Team. Audrey Johnson and Madelyn Tepe were both also named to the IBCA Class 1A/2A All-State Honorable Mention.
The rest of the SIRR Mississippi Division All Conference team was: Megan Barrett, Jeniah Thompson, and Montana Taylor of Carterville, Kate Smith of DuQuoin, Elle Basler, and Angel Help from Anna-Jonesboro, Raygan Yates of Pinckneyville, and Kera Kiner of Sparta.
