Hornets Finish Second In Chester

The Nashville Hornets track team was back in action on April 6 for the Chester F/S Invitational. The Hornets finished in second place, 23 points behind first place Freeburg. Sparta was third, Pinckneyville fourth, and DuQuoin rounded out the top five. Columbia finished sixth, followed by Anna-Jonesboro, New Athens, Gibault, and Chester.
The Hornets finished first in three events at the meet. Gavyn Lietz cleared 10’6” to win the pole vault. Landon Davis finished first in the 3200M run with a time of 11:30.7. The final first place finish of the meet came from the team of Justin Aulds, Gavin Love, Jace Matecki, and Davis in the 3200M relay with a time of 9:24.
Nashville finished second four times in the meet. Issac Sexe took home second place in both the discus and shot put, while Davis finished second in the 1600M run. The team of Daymeon Baugh, Tabor Kozuszek, Love and Davis finished second in the 1600M relay.
Finishing in third place for Nashville was Riley Bergmann in the shot put and discus, Jackson Aulds in the 110M hurdles, and 300M hurdles, and Love in the 800M run.
