Donald P. Pokorny, 81, of DuBois, passed away at 8:07 A.M., Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Washington County Hospital in Nashville.
Don had been a manager for a car manufacturer. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in DuBois and AARP. He had been past treasurer for DuBois. Don was a beloved husband, loving father, dear grandfather and great grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and a friend to many.
He was born June 19, 1935 at St. Louis, Mo., the son of Paul and Ann (Spotanski) Pokorny.
He married Barbara Bargielski on September 10, 1955 at St. Louis, Mo., and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of DuBois; children, Barb Rabbitt of DuBois, Cathy Veltri and husband Sam of St. Louis, Mo., Margie Benz and husband Mike of Webster Grove, Mo., Donald Pokorny, Jr. of Webster Grove, Mo., Tom Pokorny and wife Camille of St. Charles, Mo., and Donna Henson and husband Chuck of St. Charles, Mo., thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M., Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.
Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery at DuBois.
Friends may make memorials to St. Mary’s Rehab Center in Clayton, Mo., or the Washington County Hospital in Nashville, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
