If education is an investment, that investment is showing returns for a group of 26 seniors at Nashville Community High School. Those seniors have, collectively, been awarded almost $1-million in academic scholarships that will help them pay for, or pay for altogether, the colleges that they are headed to in the fall.

At the meeting of the NCHS Board on Monday, April 24, Superintendent Ernie Fowler told the board about the students and announced an “academic signing”, just like the signing of athletic letters of intent, for the next morning.

Fowler told the board that the scholarships for the students were totalled to, “an estimation of about $996,000…and that’s just the offers they have accepted.”

The students, along with the schools they are to attend, included:

  • Johnna Bergmann, Southeast Missouri State University
  • Langdon Briles, University of Southern Indiana
  • Taylor Cook, Murray State University
  • Briley Dahnke, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
