Hornets Push Towards End Of Season
The end of the season is quickly approaching for the Nashville Hornets boys track team. The Hornets competed in the DuQuoin Invite on May 5, and the Chuck Oyler Invitational on May 8, which leaves just two meets before the Hornets travel to Sparta for Sectionals on May 19. The Hornets have the Conference meet on May 11 and the Jared Morris Invitational on May 15.
The Hornets competed in the DuQuoin Invitational on May 5, and brought home a fourth place finish. The home team, DuQuoin Indians, took home first place with 116,5 points followed by Madison in second, and Pinckneyville in third with 100 points. Nashville finished with 92 points, and Murphysboro rounded out the top five with 76.5 points.
Nashville had just one first place in the meet. Brandon Schnitker brought home first place in the 800m run.
The Hornets then competed in the Chuck Oyler Invitational at Benton High School, which was postponed five days due to weather.
Murphysboro took home the title followed by Pinckneyville in second, and the Hornets in third place. Duquoin finished fourth, and the top five was rounded out by Herrin.
Nashville took home four first place finishes in the event. Schnitker again took home the title in the 800m run. Daymeon Baugh finished first in the triple jump. The Hornets took home wins in two different relays. Caleb Zgonina, Landon Davis, Derryn Holmes, and Gavin Love won the 4X800m relay, and the team of Alec Johns, Tabor Kozuszek, Holmes, and Schnitker won the 4X400m relay.
