2nd Annual Okawville Soda Festival To Be Held At The Heritage Days

Come and taste 18 old-fashioned glass bottle sodas on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days.

Last year’s crowd top vote-getters, Excel Bottling Company of Breese’s Frostie Root Beer and Black Cherry will be going to battle against Fitz’s Cardinal Cream, Dang Butterscotch Root Beer, Green River, Route 66 Lime, Jones Blue Bubblegum, Cheerwine, Filberts Banana, Big Muddy’s Root Beer made from southern Illinois honey, and Zuber CocoFizz, just to name a few.  Tasters will get to vote for their favorite to decide this year’s champions. Each taste is 25 cents OR you can be a VIP taster for just $5.00 which includes unlimited tastings and a collectible souvenir tasting glass (for the first 200 VIP tasters).

The Okawville Soda Festival is held at the Heritage Days which features great homemade food like Buttered Noodles, German Potato Salad, Cakes, Pies, Hand-churned Ice Cream along with Brats, Hamburgers, and Hot Dogs.  Live musical entertainment to enjoy while tasting soda and enjoying the delicious food includes Soul Shake (Rock, Soul, & Oldies) on Saturday and Heart Strings (local dulcimer group) and the Venedy Band (march tunes and old favorites) on Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday activities include a Flea Market, Farmer’s Market, Kids Games (including turtle races at 2 p.m.) and Community Yard Sales.  New this year is a Selfie Scavenger Hunt on Saturday at 12:30 for all ages.  Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
