Hornettes Volleyball Squad Hands Out Awards

As the 2016-17 school year wound down to a close, the Nashville Hornettes volleyball team handed out team awards for the 2016 season. Six players received awards for their play during the season. The Hornettes finished 14-21 last
season, and lost to Althoff in the Regional Semi-Finals. Althoff would go on to finish third in IHSA Class 2A.

The Most Valuable Player award was given to Paige Kasten. Kasten led the team with 411
assists this season, as well as with 262 digs. Kasten was second on the team with 38 aces on the year. Kasten notched 69 kills this season.

The Defensive MVP went to Abby Kempfer. Kempfer finished with 164 kills this season, which was good for third on the team. Kempfer led the team with 31 solo blocks, and 25 block assists this season.

The Most Improved Player this season was sophomore Bailey Melton. Melton finished with 19 solo blocks and 37 kills this season, in 75 games played.

The Serving Award this season went to Abby Wesselmann. Wesselmann converted on 95% of her serves during the 2016 season. Wesselman made just eight service errors, in 161 service attempts.

The award for the most aces this season was awarded to Mackenzie McFeron. McFeron finished with 60 aces this season, 22 more than any other player on the team.

Janie Holle was awarded the Hornette Award. As the only senior on the Hornettes this season, Holle led the team in kills with 204. Holle finished with 191 digs this season, which was fourth on the team.
