Girls Track All-South Announced
The Hornettes girls track team had a successful season that saw them win the Nashville Invitational and their IHSA Class 1A Sectional for the second straight season. The Hornettes qualified for state in nine different events.
Three individuals and two relay teams were named All-South. Taylor Cook, Sydney Schnitker, Jadah Heidel, the 4X400M Relay team, and the 4X800M Relay team all earned All South Honors.
Schnitker was named All-South as a jumper. Schnitker qualified for state in both the Long Jump and the Triple Jump this past season. Schnitker also broke the school record in the Triple Jump this past season as she jumped 34’10”.
Cook was named All-South in Hurdles, and also was a part of the 4X400M Relay and the 4X800M Relay. Cook qualified for state this past season in the 300M Hurdles the 4X400M Relay, and the 4X800M Relay. Cook also broke the school record in the 300M Hurdles. Cook finished the 300M hurdles in a time of 47.25 which broke a 15 year old record.
Heidel was named All-South as a middle distance runner, and a jumper. Heidel qualified for state in three different events, as she qualified in the Triple Jump, the 400M Dash, and the 4X400M Relay.
The 4X400M Relay team qualified for state with a team of Heidel, Kylie Kozuszek, Sabrina Kollbaum, and Cook.
The 4X800M Relay team of Kozuszek, Kollbaum, Grace Maschhoff, and Cook was also named All-South this past week. The 4X800M Relay team also qualified for state this season.
