Jim Dandy

Mr. James “Jim Dandy” Schmidt of Nashville, departed this life peacefully at Friendship Manor Healthcare Center in Nashville, on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 9:05 P.M. He had attained the age of 86 years, 10 months and 3 days.

Jim was born on September 23, 1930 in Cutler, the son of Edward and Gertrude (nee Wasson) Schmidt.

Jim served with the United States Air Force and was the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and chairman of the board for Jim Dandy Paint Company.

Survivors include his three children with Marilyn (nee Reitz) Schmidt: Pam Asbury (Rusty), Mark Schmidt (Suzanne) and Clay Schmidt; three grandchildren, Laura Asbury (Josh Vasquez), Alex Schmidt (Jessica), and Lauren Schmidt; a sister, Elizabeth Byrd; a brother, Daniel Joseph Schmidt; nieces and nephews throughout the area. The family is very grateful to Jake Easton Jim’s best friend who was by his side until the end.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Frankie Tom and sister Alene Parks and her husband Hubert. Per the wishes of Jim and his family, cremation was performed. A graveside service will be held at Cutler Cemetery in Cutler, on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. Those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the cemetery.te.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Washington County Partner for Pets and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home of Nashville, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
