First Day Of Classes Happening Soon

By Alex Haglund

It’s August, and that means that school days are nearly here again – classes are back in session with the first day of attendance on Monday, August 14 at both NCHS, District 99, and Nashville Primary/Middle School, District 49.

St. Ann School and Trinity–St. John Lutheran School will have classes start the next day, Tuesday, August 15.

There’s plenty to do for students and their parents before the kids head back to classes though.

NCHS

Registration at NCHS will be held on Tuesday, August 8, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

NCHS Freshman Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 10, at 7 p.m.

There will be Chromebook (the notebook computers used at NCHS) meetings for parents on both Thursday, August 3, and on Thursday, August 10, at 8 p.m. (both days).

NCHS Registration and parking information can be found at the NCHS website, 64.83.243.36/nashville/high/index.htm , or at nash-news.com/news/2017-nchs-registration-parking-information/

District 49

Student registration for District 49 was held on July 19. District 49 is holding their annual open house on Thursday, August 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Regarding the open house, District 49 Superintendent Mike Brink’s latest newsletter says, “The official class lists for the 2017-2018 school year will be posted at this time. This is also a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, tour the building, and obtain information about the school and various programs. Additionally, we encourage all families to bring their child’s school supplies on this evening.”

School will begin on Monday, August 14. In the past, students have been released slightly early, at 2:10 p.m. – this is not the case this year, August 14 will be a full day of class with students leaving at 3:10 p.m.

The first day for Pre-K classes at District 49 will Thursday, August 17. The district has both morning and afternoon Pre-K classes.

Trinity-St. John School

For the 2017-2018 school year, the theme at Trinity–St. John School will be “All In”, referring to Luke 10:27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

On Sunday, August 13, there will be a back to school service at 3 p.m. Classrooms will be open that day from 2 to 3 p.m., and from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

There will be no school Monday, August 14, and students will head to classes for their first day on Tuesday, August 15.

That Tuesday morning, T-SJ will again host a red carpet walk to welcome families back to school.

After the red carpet treatment, the school will also be hosting a Yahoo BooHoo breakfast for parents after they drop their kids off at their classrooms.
