Historical Society To Publish Book
In an effort to celebrate the county bicentennial in 2018, the Washington County Historical Society is sponsoring, writing, and publishing a ‘History & Families’ book.
The primary content of the book will be biographical stories on families from Washington County, past and present, and from all walks of life.
Each family will write their story in a maximum 500 words, with a photo alongside, and the submission is free. Anyone and everyone who wishes to be in the book that’s ever lived or does live in Washington County can be!
The hardbound, coffee table book will be published by Acclaim Press, a company that has published hundreds of county history books across the country. ‘We are truly excited and honored to work with the Washington County Historical Society in publishing a bicentennial family history book,’ said Clint Oftedahl, Publishing Consultant.
The company will assist the book committee with editing, typesetting, designing, and printing the book, along with marketing efforts during the process of putting the book together.
Elaine Rucker and Cathy Dinkelman with the Historical Society at 326 S. Kaskaskia in Nashville are heading the project. You can stop by there Saturday 1 to 4 pm, or call
Elaine at 618-327-8075, for more information.
Brochures with information on submitting your family history will also be mailed out in the coming weeks
