Wilbert G. Lake
Wilbert Lake of Okawville, departed this life in the Breese Nursing Home in Breese, on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 7:37 P.M. He had attained the age of 86 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Wilbert was born in Plant City, Fla., on March 5, 1931 the son of George and Clara (nee Ahlers) Lake.
He was united in marriage to Betty Jones in the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville on September 6, 1960 and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2015.
Mr. Lake was a faithful member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville where he was a former member of the Holy Name Society.
He was a devoted husband to Betty and took great care of her during her illness.
He was a loving father and grandfather and especially enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their various sporting events.
Left to mourn his passing is his three sons, Steven Lake and wife Kelly of Breese, Alan Lake and wife Kathy of Okawville and Kenneth Lake and wife Dana of Albers; eight grandchildren; two great granddaughters; three step great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Mense and her husband Eugene.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville on Saturday August 5, 2017 at 10 A.M. with Fr. Tad Gegotek officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 233 of Okawville.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Friday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again on Saturday from 8 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Barbara Catholic Church, the Okawville Senior Center or to the Celtic Hospice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
