Beautiful day for the Wedding of Robbie Koenigstein and Abby Burleyson which was performed at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Johannisburg Saturday afternoon.
Officiating the ceremony were Jim Burleyson and Rev. Bill Groennert. A dinner and dance was held at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, Lively Grove. Rehearsal was at St. John’s Friday evening followed by refreshments at Elkhorn Lake.
A big thank you to those in attendance at the Venedy Homecoming and Picnic Saturday.

Stanley and Ora Mae Droege accompanied Steve and Gina Droege to the Gateway Grizzlies and River City Rascals baseball game at GCS Ballpark in Sauget Wednesday evening. It was Wiener Wednesday and Queen of Hearts Wednesday.

Eleven distant relatives of the Brockschmidt Family of Cincinnati, Ohio, attended the Venedy Homecoming and Picnic Saturday. G.H. Brockschmidt, a native of Hanover Germany, settled in Section 24, the present sight of Venedy. Brockschmidt family was the first German family to settle in this county (according to Venedy Sesquicentennial Book). The group were interested in the Anvil on a monument at the entrance to Brockschmidt Park. It stands today as the community’s tribute to the Brockschmidt families. Adolph Brockschmidt was a Mayor of Venedy, as well and very instrumental in improving the Village.
Rev. Marguerite J. “Gretchen” Sterret, 64, of New Baden, passed away Sunday at her home. Gretchen served more than 28 years at Zion UCC New Baden.
