Hornettes Wrap Up Busy Week

The Nashville Hornettes girls golf team wrapped up a busy week in which they competed in the Midwest Girls Golf Shootout, the Massac County Tournament, and a three-team match with Pinckneyville and West Frankfort. The Hornettes are back in action on August 30 against Mascoutah, Freeburg, and Okawville.
The Hornettes started the week with a sixth place finish in the Midwest Girls Golf Shootout. This tournament featured some of the best competition in the area from both Illinois and Missouri. Notre Dame-Cape Girardeau finished first in the tournament with a score of 323, followed by St. Joe’s in second, O’Fallon in third, SHG in fourth, and MICDS in fifth. Nashville finished sixth with 365 points, followed by Edwardsville in seventh, Normal Community in eighth, Massac County in ninth, and Galesburg in tenth. Alton finished in eleventh, and Althoff in twelfth. Highland did not register a team score.
The top finisher for Nashville was Hope Rueter with a score of 87. Rachael Kell finished with an 88, while both Jordan Stiegman and Brooke Bartling finished with a 95. Rylee White finished the tournament with a 141, and Sydney Gordon finished the tournament with a 158.
The Hornettes were back on the course on August 23 for a home meet against Pinckneyville and West Frankfort. The Hornettes won the match with a score of 164. Pinckneyville scored 175, and West Frankfort did not have a team score.
The top overall finisher at the match was Megan Breslin with a 38. Kell led Nashville with a 39. Stiegman finished with a 40, followed by Bartling with a 41. Rueter tallied a 44 on the afternoon and Hannah Harris scored a 49. Rylee Luechtefeld finished with a 53.
The Hornettes finished up the week at the Massac County Tournament. The Hornettes have gone back and forth with Massac County throughout the season. Massac County defeated Nashville at the Belleville East Tournament, while the Hornettes defeated Massac County at the NIT and the Midwest Girls Golf Shootout.
The Hornettes and Massac County again had a close battle at the Massac County Tournament with Massac County getting a two stroke victory. Massac County took home first place with a score of 327, while Nashville finished second with a score of 329.
Rueter was the top finisher for the Hornettes with a score of 79. Stiegman finished with an 82, while Kell and Bartling each finished with an 84. Harris finished with a 97, while Luechtefeld finished with a 121.
