Jr. Hornettes Pick Up Two Wins

The Nashville Middle School Jr. Hornettes softball team won two contests against Trico and Carlyle. The Jr. Hornettes won both matchups on the road before their August 17 game against Murphysboro was rained out.
On August 14, the Jr. Hornettes traveled to take on Carlyle. Carlyle got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first, but Nashville took control over the next few innings. The Jr. Hornettes scored two in the second, three in the third, and three in the fourth to take a 8-1 lead over Carlyle.
After Carlyle scored one in the fifth, the Jr. Hornettes would come back with two in the sixth and four in the seventh. Carlyle would score four in the bottom of the seventh, but the Jr. Hornettes would win 15-6.
Jordan Donato finished with three hits and three RBIs to lead Nashville in the win, followed by Baylie Newman who finished with two hits and three RBIs. Korbi Rhine and Daphne Kollbaum finished with a hit and two RBIs. Daci Finke had two hits in the win, while Emily Guest, Emmerson Paszkiewicz, Jill Kuhl, and Ryan Stiegman all finished with one hit in the win.
The Jr. Hornettes picked up another win on the road against Trico on August 15. The Jr. Hornettes took control in the late innings and won 6-3.
After both teams traded runs in the first, Trico took a 2-1 lead in the third. Nashville would come back to take the lead in the fifth with two runs, but Trico would come right back to tie it in the bottom of the frame. In the sixth Nashville took the lead for good, as they pushed two runs across the plate. The Jr. Hornettes added an insurance run in the seventh and won 6-3.
Annie Ahlers led Nashville with three hits and two RBIs in the win. Donato finished with two hits and a RBI, while Stiegman added two hits. Paszkiewicz, and Kuhl each finished with a hit in the win.
