St. Ann/TSJ Baseball Splits Two Games

The St. Ann/TSJ Baseball team split their two games this past week as they fell to St. Mary’s Mt. Vernon, but bounced back to defeat Woodlawn.
The St. Ann/TSJ Baseball team suffered their first loss of the season, 4-2 to St. Mary’s Mt. Vernon on August 22. After taking an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second, St. Mary’s Mt. Vernon added to their lead with another run in the third. St. Ann/TSJ Baseball would get on the board with two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but could not close the gap any further as St. Mary’s Mt. Vernon would take the game 4-2.
Owen Dunn and Parker Renken each had two hits to lead St. Ann/TSJ. Kendall Vallett, Curtis Bochantin, and Harrison Zgonina each added a hit in the loss.
St. Ann/TSJ got back on the winning track with a dominant 19-9 win over Woodlawn on August 26. After St. Ann/TSJ scored five runs in the top of the first, Woodlawn would come back with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
The teams would go back and forth the next few innings, as Woodlawn took the lead with two runs in the bottom half of the second. In the third, St. Ann/TSJ would take the lead back with three runs in the top half of the inning. The lead would not last long, as Woodlawn would score three in the bottom half of the third to take a 9-8 lead over St. Ann/TSJ.
St. Ann/TSJ would take the lead for good, as seven runs crossed the plate in the top of the fourth to give St. Ann/TSJ a 15-9 lead. St. Ann/TSJ would put the game away with four runs in the fifth to give them a 19-9 win in five innings.
Vallett led the way at the top of lineup as he finished 5-5 with a double and three runs scored. Tommy Herzog finished 4-4 in the win, with three runs scored two doubles, and a walk. Thomas Wojtowicz and Dunn each had two hits in the win for St. Ann/TSJ. Zgonina, Jack Kroeger, and Renken each finished with a hit in the game. Bochantin, and Schill each scored two runs in the win.
St. Ann/TSJ has a record of 4-1.
