St. Ann/TSJ Softball Drops Two Of Three

The St. Ann/TSJ Softball team dropped two of their last three games as they lost to Pinckneyville 204 and Mt. Vernon St. Mary’s while picking up a win against Hoyleton/Hoffman/Grand Prairie/ILS.
The St. Ann/TSJ Softball team could not get anything working offensively as they fell to Pinckneyville 204 17-1 on August 17. St. Ann/TSJ managed just one run in the fourth inning, while Pinckneyville 204 scored early and often. Pinckneyville scored two in the first, four in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth and six in the fifth to take the win.
Offensively, Colleen Jahnke had two hits and scored a run to lead the way for St. Ann/TSJ. Tailer Pelczynski finished with one hit while Emma Van Hise, Reese Varel, and Lauren Rapp all reached base via the walk.
St. Ann/TSJ bounced back for a big 15-1 win over Hoyleton/Hoffman/Grand Prairie/ILS on August 18. St. Ann/TSJ took the lead early and never looked back, as they got a big third inning, and a big fourth inning to put the game away. St. Ann/TSJ held a 2-1 lead after the first inning, but scored six in the third, and seven in the fourth to easily take the contest 15-1.
Varel led the way with two hits, followed by Rapp, Rub Konkel, Kris May, and Pelczynski with one hit apiece.
In their final game of the week, St. Ann/TSJ suffered a 12-2 loss to Mt. Vernon St. Mary’s. St. Ann/TSJ got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning, but could not score the rest of the game. Mt. Vernon St. Mary’s tied the game in the bottom of the first and took control with four runs in the second and third innings. Mt. Vernon St. Mary’s would score two more in the fourth.
Jahnke had two hits, one of which being a double in the loss. Pelczynski had the lone other hit for St. Ann/TSJ in the contest.
