Hornettes Win Lady Panther Invitational

The Nashville Hornettes girls golf team continued their strong start to the season by winning, the Lady Panther Invitational for the second straight year, and by beating Mascoutah and Okawville in a three-team match.

The Hornettes began the week with a victory over Mascoutah and Okawville on August 30 at Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course. The Hornettes finished with a score of 159, while Mascoutah shot a 176 and Okawville shot a 187.

Hope Rueter finished with the top overall score in the match, as she finished even par with a 33.  The second finisher for the Hornettes was Jordan Stiegman with a 40, followed by Rachael Kell with a 41. Rylee Luechtefeld finished with a 45, Sydney Gordon finished with a 47, and Kaitlyn Simons finished with a 50 in the match.

For the second straight year, the Nashville Hornettes golf team was the champions of the Lady Panther Invitational, held at Red Hawk Golf Course. It was the third time in the past four seasons that the Hornettes came away with the top prize. Nashville finished the tournament with a score of 159, six strokes ahead of second place Pinckneyville.

Individually there was a four way tie for the top overall score in the tournament, with two Hornettes each shooting a 38. Both Brooke Bartling and Stiegman each shot a 3 to tie for first. Rueter finished with a 41, while Kell finished with a 42. Both Hannah Harris and Rylee White each finished with a 55 in the tournament.
