Bernice Rockamann

Mrs. Bernice Rockamann of Okawville, departed this life surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Mt. Olive, on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 5:27 P.M. She had attained the age of 85 years, 1 month and 14 days.

Bernice was born in Lively Grove Twp., Washington County, on July 25, 1932 the daughter of Michael and Emma (nee Schickedanz) Kratz. She was united in marriage to Adolph Rockamann on June 27, 1953 in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Biddleborn, and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2001.

Bernice had previously worked as a secretary at Okawville High School in the 50’s and 60’s. Mrs. Rockamann also waitressed and cooked at several area taverns, including the Victory Tavern, O.K. Drive Inn and New Memphis Station. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Biddleborn. Bernice loved to play Bingo and would travel to area towns to play. She was an accomplished dancer and enjoyed going to dances with her husband.

Left to mourn her passing is her two children, Rhonda Frost and husband James of Mt. Olive and Terry Rockamann and fianceé Betty Liszewski of Nashville; two grandsons; a brother-in-law. Bernice was also expecting the birth of her first great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vernice Twenhafel.

Funeral services will be held from the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Jeffrey Schwab officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity U.C.C. Cemetery in Biddleborn.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Thursday from 9 A.M. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Peter United Church of Christ in Okawville or to Trinity U.C.C. Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
