St. Ann/TSJ Baseball Loses Four Straight

It has been a rough go for the St. Ann/TSJ Baseball team as they lost four straight games this past week. St. Ann/TSJ dropped contests to Mascoutah Holy Childhood, Waltonville, Nashville Middle School, and Willow Grove/St. Mary’s Centralia.
On September 5, St. Ann/TSJ hosted Mascoutah Holy Childhood. Mascoutah Holy Childhood got seven runs in the first, and went on for a 13-7 win.
After falling behind 7-0, St. Ann/TSJ scored three in the second to cut the deficit to four, but Mascoutah Holy Childhood came back with four runs in the third to take a commanding 11-3 lead.
St. Ann/TSJ would continue fighting as they picked up three runs in the fourth, but Mascoutah Holy Childhood answered with a run of their own, and lead 12-6 after four innings of play.
After a scoreless fifth, both teams traded runs in the sixth, and Mascoutah Holy Childhood took the 13-7 win.
Curtis Bochantin led the way with three hits and two runs scored in the loss. Kendall Vallett finished the game 2-3 with a run scored, while Owen Dunn, Tommy Herzog, Kaden Lineky, Thomas Wojtowicz, and Harrison Zgonina all recorded a hit in the loss.
St. Ann/TSJ was back in action against Waltonville on September 6. Waltonville controlled the action in the game and took the win 9-1.
Waltonville scored in each of the first four innings in this one, and led 8-0 after four. Waltonville would score their final run of the game in the sixth. St. Ann/TSJ got on the board in the seventh, but it was too little too late as Waltonville grabbed the win.
St. Ann/TSJ finished with just two hits as Zgonina and Jack Kroeger each picked up a hit. Zgonina scored the lone run, and Kroeger drove in the lone run.
St. Ann/TSJ lost their third straight game, as they fell to Nashville Middle School 13-3 on September 7.
The Jr. Hornets scored early and often as they held a 6-0 lead after two innings of play. Both teams would score three runs in the third, and Nashville Middle School would put the game away from there. The Jr. Hornets scored on ein the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth to take the 13-3 win.
Kaden LInkey had the lone hit for St. Ann/TSJ in the loss. Herzog, Devin Schill, Linkey, Kroeger, and Parker Renken all reached base via the walk for St. Ann/TSJ.
On September 8, St. Ann/TSJ played their fourth game in as many days as they fell to Willow Grove/St. Mary’s Centralia 10-7.
Willow Grove/St. Mary’s Centralia took a three run lead in the top of the first, but St. Ann/TSJ came back with two runs of their own in the bottom half and trailed by only one after one. Willow Grove/St. Mary’s Centralia would then get a run in each of the second third and fourth innings, to build their lead to 6-2 in the middle innings.
The score would stay the same until the seventh, when Willow Grove/St. Mary’s Centralia added four insurance runs, and would definitely need them. In the bottom of the seventh, St. Ann/TSJ would plate five runs, but could not come all the way back as Willow Grove/St. Mary’s took the 10-7 qin.
Herzog had three hits to lead the way offensively, while Noah Miller, John Blumhorst, Dunn, and Bochantin all added one hit.
