We received a wonderful rain of two inches on Sunday morning. Even a rainbow was seen in the western sky. The rain really settled the dust in our village.
Sunday, Sept 24 Pastor Shana Johnson, Conference Minister of IL South will be guest speaker at Zion. She is also bringing the message at the 180th Anniversary Service at St John UCC, Johannisburg at 8:30 am.
Sunday, Oct 1 worship service will be in Zion’s Parish Hall and have a blessing of pets and animals. This is the Sunday before the Feast of St Francis which is Oct 4. Pets must be on leashes or in crates.
Hunter Barnett who spoke this past Sunday at Zion is a young dynamic spokesman for God.
Doug, Karla, Emmerson and Bennett Dingwerth of Texas were out several days visiting Janet Wulf and other family, attending the queen pageant and Wheat Festival.
Miss Emily Bening from here was one of the queen candidates. I thought her answer to the question all the candidates were asked was well done.
There were several (4) Okawville High School class reunions held at the Eagle’s Nest this past weekend. Classes of 1967, 1982 & 1983, and 1997.
This coming Saturday, Congratulations to Ron & Joan Christ on the 50th Anniversary of owning and operating Ron’s Lounge/Tavern in Lebanon. A big party is planned on Saturday. The Christs are Susan Gaebe’s parents.
Another summer is over. The Okawville Wheat Festival always closes it for me. They had a nice weekend. The parade on Sunday was very nice. The Addieville Fire Department was in the parade.
The Addieville Area Jaycees had Legos as their theme (quite clever). Ronnie Kolweier and grandchildren Malia and Kanoa were in it for Big Boy Toys and Little Boy Toys featuring John Deeres. And the exciting news that Andrea Klingenberg was proposed marriage by her boyfriend (now fiancé’) Nick Harre. Nick had been riding on Annette’s Flower float as Ken (of Ken & Barbie) and he jumped off the float to propose. What a romantic guy!
