Patsy M. Wintjen

Patsy M. Wintjen, 85, of East Alton, departed this life on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Washington County Hospital Extended Care in Nashville.

Patsy was born April 16, 1932 in Hamburg, a daughter of Marlin Jesse “Mark” and Blanche A. Guthrie Howdeshell. She was united in marriage to Bill Wintjen on August 6, 1949 and he survives.

Patsy loved her family and her church. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in East Alton and many of the church groups, including the Quilters.

She loved playing pinochle, hosting family holidays and visiting her parents in Calhoun County.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Bill Wintjen of Breese, two children, Rebecca (Kevin) Rench of Nashville and Mark (Rebecca) Wintjen of Yukon, Okla., four grandchildren, Elyse Rench of Shiloh, Ryan (Bridgette) Wintjen of Yukon, Okla., Rebecca (Phillip) Belding of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Della Tellez of Tempe, Ariz., seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Rich Howdeshell of Austin, Colo., and Barry Howdeshell of Little Rock, Ark., numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and many friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Victoria Wintjen Tellez and by two grandsons, Jeremy Wintjen and Billy Tellez.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Burial will follow at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church or to Washington County Hospital Extended Care.
