On Wednesday, October 4, six members of the Nashville FFA Chapter participated in the Section 21 Soil Judging contest hosted by Kaskaskia College.
The Soil Judging Career Development Event is designed for students enrolled in Agricultural Science or Agricultural Resource Management classes.
During the contest, the participants learned unique skills that allowed them to determine soil structure, soil type, land slope, and many other essentials needed to determine soil quality.
The overall goal of this event is to make home site and septic recommendations based on soil factors at the five varying sites.
The Nashville FFA Chapter placed 4th in the contest.
Individual placings were: Austin Schorfheide- 5th, Madison Schuette- 8th, and Tabor Kozuszek-10th.
